If anyone had said three days ago that Newcastle could have the financial muscle to pull a sharp on Real Madrid everyone would have laughed it off as mere bluff, but appears that is the case at the moment. Newcastle is poised to take advantage of a loophole and sharp disagreement between Kylian Mbappe camp and PSG.
There appeared no way back for the Kylian Mbappe saga to restart this summer. Yet, it has worked its way back into the headlines. The youngster appeared set to stay in Paris this summer after reaching an agreement with PSG to compromise on his economic bonuses. That way, he would secure a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.
As revealed by different news outlets, Los Blancos’ idea of signing Mbappe is still very much on. In fact, they are said to be preparing a €120 million move to the youngster immediately. However, the new boys on the block, Newcastle are set to cause a major upset in the Blancos transfer plans
According to reports from AS, Mbappe himself is waiting for Real Madrid to send the offer to PSG. Fayza Lamari, Mbappe’s mother, is also his agent and is in charge of handling the offers he has on his table. Real Madrid have thus expected a call from the player’s mother for a while now over a move to Spain.
Los Blancos as well as Newcastle are aware that Mbappe’s transfer is impossible without the green light from Lamari. They are patiently waiting for the go signal and will launch the bid immediately upon receiving it.
There is not long left before the summer transfer window closes. However, Mbappe’s saga has historically dragged on until the very last seconds of the window. This summer, Real Madrid intentionally delayed the process in the hope of pushing PSG to accept a low bid. The Parisiens demanded in excess of €200 million, but Los Blancos refuse to shell out such an amount for a player in the final season of his contract.
It remains to be seen how far Newcastle can go to secure the services of one of the most controversial headlines of the summer. Will they swing in, and take it or it is just one showoff? Only time will tell.
