We even saw more experienced homegrown-eligible players leave the club, with Dean Henderson leaving for Crystal Palace late in the window.

There was also the selling of Anthony Elanga, which will have touched some United fans’ hearts.

Anthony Elanga had no choice but to leave Manchester United.

After his family relocated from Sweden to England, Elanga joined United at the age of 12.

Elanga progressed through the United ranks to become a first-team regular, making 55 appearances and scoring four goals.

Elanga had some wonderful moments, such as his goal away to Atletico Madrid in 2022 and his terrorization of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Old Trafford around this time last year.

The issue was that Elanga was unable to secure a regular starting berth at United and was limited to only five Premier League appearances last season.

As a result, Elanga had little choice but to seek a transfer elsewhere, opting for a £15 million move to Nottingham Forest in July.

Elanga followed the wishes of United fans, many of whom would not be surprised if Elanga became a celebrity.

Elanga is making an impression for Forest after scoring the game-winning goal against Chelsea last weekend.

United supporters adored the moment, and former defender Rio Ferdinand has now joined in on the fun.

Ferdinand said on FIVE that Elanga now looks’red-hot’ for Forest and congratulated him for smashing Chelsea over the weekend.

Ferdinand noted that Elanga has an influence on every game for Forest and looks ‘energetic’ under Steve Cooper.

Elanga must combine all of his abilities to succeed, but Ferdinand hopes his ‘purple patch’ for Forest continues.

“What became of Chelsea, man?” “They got smoked by Elanga, one of our players we let go!” Ferdinand exclaimed. “By the way, Elanga has looked red-hot; did you see what he did to Mudryk?” He’s done great, guy, he’s made an impact in every game he’s played since joining Forest. He arrived.

“One thing about him that is never in doubt is his pace, application, and desire.” It’s a question of whether he can put it all together and do it consistently enough to get the performances out of him. Now, listen, he’ll be judged over time, but right now, he’s in a purple patch, and long may it continue,” he continued.
