Leo Hjelde of Leeds United is dubbed the “Brexit center-back” by David Moller Wolfe following a 7-0 victory.

Following his performance in their 7-0 victory over Latvia Under-21s on August 12, Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde has been branded a “Brexit center-back” by Norwegian left-back David Moller Wolfe of AZ Alkmaar.

In the lopsided victory, Hjelde and Wolfe lined up next to one another as they maintained a clean sheet. Their relationship off the field is evident from the comment made on Hjelde’s Instagram post after the game.
The 20-year-old has made just one league appearance in Daniel Farke’s side so far this season, although he could be set for further involvement as the squad gets rotated throughout the difficult winter months.
On August 12, Wolfe commented on Hjelde’s Instagram image with the caption “My Brexit center-back,” making fun of the Leeds United player for his strong defensive play that helped his team keep a clean sheet, which is always cause for celebration for defenders.

The Leeds player delivered a trustworthy performance.

This comment, which is usually used to describe a no-nonsense style of performance, was inspired by Hjelde’s strong and resolute defensive style since he accomplished his team’s goals in an excellent manner.
Hjelde will be looking to reclaim his starting place in Farke’s side, where he has been used at left-back this season in all three of his starts against Cardiff in the Championship, and Shrewsbury and Salford both in the Carabao Cup.
