Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, has assured fans that the club included a buy-back clause in the agreement that saw join Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

On the eve of the new Premier League season, the England captain signed a £100 million deal with the Bundesliga’s biggest clubs, leaving the new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou without his top player just days before leading his team against Brentford.

Kane took over the No. 9 jersey, which had been worn by the productive Robert Lewandowski until his transfer to Barcelona, and signed a contract that runs through June 2027.

“It’s not a goodbye because you never know how things pan out in the future, but it’s a thank you and I’ll see you soon,” the 30-year-old said in a video he shared on social media after the deal was completed, leaving the door open for a return to Tottenham.

Levy made a rare public appearance earlier this evening at the club’s first fan forum in five years, which was hosted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

When asked about the sale of the club’s all-time leading scorer, Levy responded, “There is a buy back clause,” according to the Evening Standard.

The chairman, women’s head coach Robert Vilahamn, and captain Bethany England took part in the 90-minute Q&A together with captain Heung-min Son and head coach Ange Postecoglou.
