After joining the team from Bayern Munich, Gravenberch made his first start for the organization, and he put up a truly outstanding performance. With 15 minutes left in the 3-1 victory, the Dutch midfielder, who had provided the assist for Luis Diaz’s second goal, hobbled off the pitch.

Some fans were alarmed when they saw Gravenberch groaning as he left the field, but Klopp has allayed their worries.

Following the game, Klopp told TNT Sports that “[he] was very good, and he told me he had cramp so that makes sense.”

“I believe that was his first start in a while, and he performed quite well. He was the best player on the field for a while, but in the first half, you could see him start to become a little frustrated and bewildered, as in, “Where is he?”

Diaz and, despite not knowing much about his teammates, it appeared to be well-rehearsed.

Following the contest, Gravenberch shared a message he had gotten from Klopp prior to it that had inspired him to play at his best.

The midfielder recalled how the coach approached him the day after practice and told him to “feel free, you know, you can do whatever you want, of course you have to do your things, but he just said feel free and show yourself and the Ryan you are.”

Gravenberch continued, regarding Liverpool’s performance: “We didn’t start so well, but we had the mindset and we turned it around again, so I was very delighted with the game.

“For myself, it was good, but it was also sloppy sometimes, so I have to work on that, and the rest was OK.”
