Nelson Abbey, a talented young player from Reading, has been called up for England Under-20 duty.

The 20-year-old has already appeared in 10 games for the Royals this season, and his demeanor and defensive skills have won over fans on and off the field.

The center-back, a product of the club’s academy, has led his old team without club captain Andy Yiadom.

The 18-year-old has received his first call-up for the entire New Zealand squad after forming a good partnership with adolescent Tyler Bindon.

His performances in a struggling Reading sign in 2020, when he played twice for England Under-17, grabbed the Young Lions’ attention.

The defender, who replaces Reuell Walters of Arsenal, has earned a spot on the Under-20 squad for the first time in his career.

In the upcoming ten days, Joe Edwards’ team will play games against Portugal and Romania before returning in time for Tuesday, October 24, when Reading and Fleetwood Town will play each other for the first time.
