Dalvin Cook Wants to ‘Partner Up,’ Sign With Cowboys? Dallas Source Reacts

“Dallas has been right there … Just partnering up with a great running back (like Tony Pollard), it would be good.” Dalvin Cook on his desire to sign with the Dallas Cowboys.

OXNARD, California – Dalvin Cook has been making the rounds in the media recently, and if you didn’t know better, you’d think he was doing it as a favor to all of his media pals.

We should have known better. So, as he prepares for his weekend visit with the New York Jets, and as the other AFC East teams (particularly the New England Patriots, who are also hosting Cowboys ex-Ezekiel Elliott this weekend), we recognize what Dalvin is doing.

He’s flirting with you. One more time. Hoping to catch the eye of one more suitor who will increase his payday to or above his desired $10 million APY.

“Dallas has been right there the last few years, we just need to turn that page,” Cook said this weekend via @ESPNNFLLIVE. “(Tony Pollard) is a great running back; just pairing up with a great running back, a great running mate, would be good…”

What’s the issue with Cook’s eyelash-batting? A Dallas source confirmed to CowboysSI.com the team’s stance on Cook. His talent is held in high regard. However, there is no interest in hiring two running backs who both earn more than $10 million APY./

So that’s the end of that… unless the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, and Bills – all AFC East rivals vying for Cook’s services – all back out.

Cook has been working to drum up business since the Vikings released him. The Pats have invited Zeke to town to further their investigation into a backfield addition to work behind starter Rhamondre Stevenson. However, if they are unable to sign Cook, who has stated that there is a “high” probability that he will join the Jets, the Aaron Rodgers-led club will become a “SuperTeam.”

And congratulations to them. The Cowboys don’t see the need and have already created a “salary-cap pie” in which they are handing out big deals to guys like Trevon Diggs and battling Zack Martin to pay him more so that they can eventually afford Micah Parsons. That is not to say Dalvin Cook should not submit his resume; it simply means that “partnering up” in Dallas is not the Cowboys’ intention.
