The Detroit Lions constantly attempt to defend their home field on the field. They’re incorporating that into one of their catchphrases off the field.

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN Business, the Lions filed to trademark the phrase on April Fool’s Day of the previous year, then on November 10, 2015, they officially registered the trademark for “Defend the Den.”

 

The Lions have trademarked other phrases recently in addition to this one. The Lions have trademarked “One Detroit One Pride,” according to ESPN.com. The trademark was filed on April 23, 2015, and it was registered on December 15 for usage on apparel, T-shirts, and stadium use.

For the previous two seasons, the term “Defend the Den” has been heard frequently throughout Ford Field. It has served as their primary catchphrase outside of Ford Field and is frequently displayed on the stadium’s large screens.
