Green Bay Packers: Joe Barry’s replacement as head coach of the NFL is now in place

This season, the Green Bay Packers seem to have found their spark. The Packers are now in the running for the last NFC playoff place (seventh seed) following three very convincing victories. The offense, led by Jordan Love, has fully turned the corner, and the defense is also contributing.

Having saying that, Joe Barry has been under fire for a number of seasons. Barring an unlikely turnaround in the 2023 season, Barry’s tenure in Green Bay is far from assured. There is a story that suggests one current NFL head coach may take over if the Packers decide to part ways with their current defensive coordinator.

Joe Barry of the Green Bay Packers will be replaced as defensive coordinator by Robert Saleh, the head coach of the New York Jets.

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman brought up the possibility of Saleh taking over as defensive coordinator:

I won’t lie — I have asked this question out loud in recent days. The Packers have the No. 9 scoring defense in the NFL. Barry has done little to lose his job this offseason. However, I’d imagine LaFleur would be enticed if his best friend and one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers before the New York Jets hired him became available.

He has to become available for this to be a possibility, of course, and I’m not sure Saleh will lose his job because Aaron Rodgers has been hurt, despite how disappointing the Jets’ season has been.

Would The Packers Move On From Joe Barry?

If given the chance, Packers supporters may have let rid of defensive coordinator Joe Barry a long time ago. Supporters believe that a new defensive coordinator may be appointed “when” rather than “if,” as they are dissatisfied with the direction Barry has taken the defense since taking over.

Barry might have, nevertheless, been able to keep his job in Green Bay. Rob Demovsky of ESPN says there are reasons for hope for the Packers’ defense, which is frequently criticized:
