REPORT: Roy Hodgson, the Palace manager, gives a positive update on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s injury

Roy Hodgson, the Palace manager, gives an update on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s injury: “He’ll beat that.”

Roy Hodgson, the manager of Crystal Palace, believes Jesurun Rak-Sakyi will surpass the medical staff’s injured return timeline.

The Southwark-born winger, 21, has not been seen since sustaining a grade three hamstring strain during pregame warm-ups before the team’s 2-0 victory over Burnley.

Rak-Sakyi, an ex-Charlton loanee, appeared as a substitute six times in the Premier League this year before becoming injured.

He hasn’t played in the top division in the last seven games.

“His injury was another one of those wretched injuries like Michael Olise, and Eberechi Eze, and Lerma had one for a long time as well, and they are this grade three, and they involve a tendon,” Hodgson stated prior to Palace’s 2-2 draw against Man City.

Whenever that occurs and the diagnostic results are returned, I’m told that this time frame is the only way we can restore his muscle to its proper state.

It was more than two months in Eze’s case and more than three months in Olise’s, and I fear that’s where Rak-Sakyi was. So, I guess in order to see clearly for myself, when can I anticipate them informing me that “He’s getting close again”?

“I’ll have to wait for that chunk of time to pass, but I see and talk to him every day, and he’s definitely running, so he should be ahead of the curve,” the author said.

“They don’t want that to happen, as you saw with Olise, where we thought he’d made it after about three months, but he got hurt again right away and missed another month.”Jes requires our patience, but I believe it’s great to see him out there every day.

“I’d be shocked if he didn’t, in a sense, beat their deadline because of his flawless attitude. He’ll probably prevail in that.
