Boston Celtics, former NBA player, died at. the age of 42 and rose to fame as the forward……

Brandon Hunter, a former NBA player who rose to fame as a forward for Ohio University, has died. He was 42.

 

As of this writing, no information on Hunter’s death had been released.

Ohio University head coach Jeff Boals verified the tragic news, paying tribute to the late athlete on X (previously known as Twitter). Boals captioned a photo of Hunter, “Sad day for Bobcat Nation.” Mr. Brandon Hunter, He was taken far too soon. One of the greatest players to ever don the green and white. #RIP.”

Many people who knew Hunter and had dealt with him in the past expressed their sympathies in the comments.

“A terrible shame,” wrote sports announcer Michael Reghi. During his time in Athens, I had a great time conversing with Brandon while calling ‘Cats TV games. Condolences to everyone who is mourning his passing. @OhioBobcats.”

“We just spoke last week,” former NBA point player T.J. Ford said of his friend’s death. I’ve been losing a lot of pals recently.”

Hunter was a standout high school basketball player in Cincinnati, Ohio, before going on to play for Ohio University. In 2003, he was drafted by the Celtics and eventually played for the Orlando Magic.

Hunter earned a career-high 17 points against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2004 during his 67-game professional career, which spanned two seasons.
