The Indianapolis Colts will be without two players for the remainder of the season, but will this benefit the Houston Texans when they meet at the conclusion of the season?

Texans linebacker Denzel Perryman's 3-game suspension knocked down to 2 after appeal

On Tuesday, the Houston Texans and the rest of the NFL received huge news: the Indianapolis Colts suspended two players for the rest of the season. These two athletes were Isaiah McKenzie, a wide receiver, and Tony Brown, a cornerback. The two men were suspended for bad behavior toward the team.

There is no other word for it, but that means the Colts will be without two players for the next three regular season games. This is great news for the Colts and a boon for those they have to play, namely the Texans. At least, that’s the first impression, right?

Not so fast, my friends, as Lee Corso would say. Unless some major injuries occurred between now and then, neither McKenzie nor Brown are or were expected to receive any genuine game time.

McKenzie is primarily a special teams player, appearing in all but one game this season and averaging only a few snaps per game at most. In Week 10, he had an 11-play outing against the New England Patriots. He has 11 receptions for 82 yards and no touchdowns on the season.

Brown, unlike McKenzie, has seen little action. He’s only appeared in two games. His first game consisted of only one snap against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his second game consisted of 50+ reps against the New Orleans Saints in his sole start of the season.

McKenzie received a PFF rating of 64.7 in limited activity, while Brown received a score of 26.8. Their contribution to the club is minimal at best, and their absence, sadly for the Texans, will not be felt in any meaningful sense.
