Kyle Hamilton of the Ravens added to his case for defensive player of the year with a string of huge plays Monday before collapsing and holding his knee for the second time in three weeks late in Baltimore’s 33-19 win over the 49ers.

Hamilton recorded two interceptions, three pass defenses, and five tackles against San Francisco, one of the league’s top offenses.

However, with 9:43 remaining in the game, Hamilton made his fifth tackle, stopping Brandon Aiyuk’s 22-yard run, and did not get up. Hamilton grimaced as he held his knee.

He was ultimately able to walk to the injury tent, but he spent the remainder of the game on the sidelines. The Ravens believe the injury is not serious.

“It doesn’t look bad for anybody,” stated coach John Harbaugh following the game. “We’ll see what happens tomorrow.” We’re optimistic about everyone.”

Hamilton, a second-year player, has emerged as one of the Ravens’ greatest defensive players. His versatility contributes to the Ravens’ success: he can drop into coverage, make open-field tackles, stuff the run, and frighten passers on blitzes. And good luck attempting to throw a screen pass to his side of the field.

Hamilton hurt his knee against the Rams and did not return, but he was back on the field for the team’s first practice following the game. He practiced with a knee brace all week and returned for the next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
