Detroit Lions Playing Dallas Cowboys at Perfect Time Says Dan Campbell

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions clearly have different ideas about what it means to be “perfect.”
“Perfect” is about what the 10-5 playoff-bound Cowboys might achieve in the opulent confines of their home facility here at AT&T Stadium, where the two teams are poised to battle on a Saturday night NFL special.
The Cowboys are 7-0 at home this season, so a win would make them “perfect.”
So, what’s so wonderful about the Lions, who are vying for the NFC’s top seed while facing a Cowboys club that is still in contention for the NFC East title?

“It’s perfect,” remarked Lions coach Dan Campbell. “You couldn’t come up with a better script. Because this is one of the best teams in the NFC, it provides you a fair picture of where you are. It simply is.”

Campbell, a native Texan and former Cowboys tight end whose colorfully forceful approach has catapulted a long-dormant Lions organization into actual Super Bowl contention, obviously understands that his team could benefit from some “playoff-atmosphere” game versus a rival contender.
And this game appears to be all of those things.

“We’re out at their place, where they play their best football,” Campbell said of the Cowboys, who have lost two straight, both on the road, to competing Buffalo and Miami. “Their back is to the wall, so you’re going to get their best shot.” Coach (Mike) McCarthy has done an outstanding job with that team.
“I think it’s perfect, I really do…. We know we’ve got a big task ahead of us here.” We’ll figure out what it is and then proceed from there.”
