PITTSBURGH (AP) — According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting defensive tackle Cam Heyward is likely headed to Injured Reserve due to a groin injury suffered in Week 1.
Heyward exited the game against the San Francisco 49ers early and attempted to return, but was helped off the field after only one play. He was later ruled out for the rest of the game.

According to Rapoport, Heyward will be out for several weeks as a result of the injury and is a candidate for IR. He is currently weighing his alternatives, including surgery.

Without Heyward, the Steelers would start DeMarvin Leal, Isaiahh Loudermilk, or Keeanu Benton. Loudermilk is now employed.
