Pittsburgh In 2024, the Pittsburgh Steelers may have a new quarterbacks coach after overhauling their offensive coaching staff this offseason.

In an interview with Steelers beat writer Brian Batko for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette’s “Chipped Ham and Football” podcast, Gerry Dulac of the paper stated that while Mike Sullivan, the current quarterbacks coach, is still being considered for the same position for the upcoming season, the team is also looking at other possibilities.

“Quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan was encouraged by his conversation with Mike Tomlin during the, let’s say, season-end review. It wasn’t inevitable that he would pass away, according to Dulac. In fact, there was a strong likelihood that he would return. He went on interviews in Las Vegas and New Orleans to be an offensive coordinator. He believed they went smoothly. He obviously didn’t get those jobs, but his return to Pittsburgh isn’t a given.”

Dulac stated that while he is unable to confirm with certainty whether Sullivan is still being considered for a return to the team, Sullivan “has not been told he’s out” and the team is currently interviewing new applicants.

Dulac also did not provide a list of specific candidates that the Steelers were considering for the position of quarterbacks coach in Pittsburgh; however, as previously reported by All Steelers’ Noah Strackbein, the team planned to interview Chargers passing game specialist Tom Arth and Titans quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Charles London.

The Steelers now have openings for an offensive assistant (Matt Toshomo is leaving as well) and an assistant quarterbacks coach (David Corley is leaving).

According to Dulac, there is also uncertainty surrounding the situation of Mike Sullivan , the running backs coach who assisted Sullivan in filling the void left by the firing of offensive coordinator Matt Canada. However, Pat Meyer, the offensive line coach, and Alfredo Roberts, the tight ends coach, will return in 2024.

The Steelers have already seen a lot of changes this offseason, and there may be more to come
