But after the two met, Jones thought it would be best to bring McCarthy back to Dallas for his fifth and possibly last season because his contract expires the following year.

Thursday is Marquand’s interview date, as first reported by ESPN.

The Cowboys have fielded candidates like Mike Zimmer, Ron Rivera, Wink Martindale, and Rex Ryan to succeed Dan Quinn, who left to take a head coaching position with the Commanders.
Along with Manuel, 44, who previously worked for Quinn as an assistant coordinator in Atlanta and was a player for Mike McCarthy’s Packers in the past, all of them have coordinator experience.
