Despite his team’s 4-1 loss to league leaders Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday, Ruben Selles was pleased with his team’s effort. Despite dominating the first half, the Royals trailed 1-0 at the interval. Charlie Savage scored a late consolation goal, but Portsmouth had the better of the second half.

Reading is currently three points clear of the relegation zone, but we have two home games left, so perhaps we can build on that lead. Selles addressed the Reading Chronicle, and here are his words.

We had the majority of the chances and I believe the first half. They were lucky, in my opinion, not to go behind 2-0. We had every opportunity after twenty minutes, and they failed to get even one shot on goal. We came here to play football and try to be the heroes. I believe we succeeded.After the break, they scored the first goal, and I believe we kept up our end of the bargain. The second goal was disappointing. Four goals conceded is conceivable due of their caliber. I’m pleased with the battle. There exist
