LAS VEGAS (AP) — A G League player for the Sacramento Kings and his girlfriend have been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered.

Marayna Rodgers, 23, was killed, and Chance Comanche, 27, and Sakari Harnden, 19, are accused of murder and kidnapping, according to a Sunday press release from Las Vegas police.

After being reported missing on December 7, authorities said that Rodgers’ remains were subsequently discovered in the Henderson suburb of Las Vegas.

Authorities said investigators suspected foul play and gathered evidence to arrest Harnden and Comanche, but they have not disclosed the cause of death or speculated about a potential motive.

According to the police, Harnden was a friend of Rodgers, a Washington state medical assistant.

Police claim that on December 5, while Rodgers was out with friends in Las Vegas, she met Harnden—who was bringing Comanche—in advance.

After being taken into custody in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Harnden was not granted bail. Marissa Pensabene, the public defender for Clark County, stated via email on Monday that she was unable to comment on Harnden’s behalf.

Comanche was detained without bond after the FBI arrested him in Sacramento, California, on Friday. He is expected to appear in court in Sacramento on Tuesday, according to police, and is currently awaiting extradition to Nevada. Court records from Monday did not list a lawyer for Comanche.
A message asking for more details was not immediately answered by the Clark County, Nevada, prosecutor’s office. In addition, inquiries made on Monday by phone to the public defender offices in Sacramento and Las Vegas regarding which one was defending Comanche were not immediately answered.

Comanche averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game while playing for the Sacramento Kings’ NBA G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings in California.
Power forward and center Comanche attended the University of Arizona for his college career from 2015 to 2017 before deciding to enter the NBA draft.
In April of last year, he signed a free-agent contract with the Portland Trail Blazers after going undrafted, but he only appeared in one game.
Comanche joined Stockton after being waived by Sacramento ten days after he was signed in October.
