2024 NFL draft: 7 most realistic options for the Steelers in the 1st round
All of us have Pittsburgh Steelers on our wish lists for the 2024 NFL Draft. However, which players are the most likely to be available at the seven most critical positions on the team? We conducted 25 one-round simulations in the PFF mock draft simulator to determine which players had the best chance of being on the field when the Steelers took the field.
C Jackson, Oregon Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson, a former center for Oregon, is the only prospect in this draft class who truly has the appearance of a Steeler. He has started for the Steelers for ten seasons and has the potential to be their next great center.
OT GA’s Amarius Mims
Quinyon Mitchell appears to be the best option available with the Steelers pick and a great fit opposite Joey Porter Jr. This cornerback class is extremely talented at the top. Ennis Rakestraw Jr. of Missouri, who is a very similar kind of player, comes in second.
LB North Carolina State’s Payton Wilson
Inside linebacker Payton Wilson of North Carolina State is one of the defense’s fastest risers at the moment. He can do everything for a defense and is a true sideline-to-sideline defender.
DL Johnny Newton from Illinois
The Steelers might be tempted to add an interior playmaker to complement young sensation Keeanu Benton, such as Illinois’ Johnny Newton, given the abundance of free agents available along the defensive line.
WR LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr.
