According to Passan, the Tigers felt that 32-year-old infielder Gio Urshela’s ability to hit left-handed pitching was a perfect fit for what they wanted this offseason.
With fresh talent on the roster, the Tigers are hoping to contend for the postseason, and Urshela is joining them.
Although Urshela’s primary position is third base, he can also play other infield positions when necessary.
Before playing for a brief period of time with the Toronto Blue Jays, he began his career in Cleveland.
