The Bengals have to decide whether to give Tee Higgins a larger bag during the offseason. The wide receivers in their lineup are already solid, with Ja’Marr Chase at the top of the group, so the front office might need to find an unconventional way to handle Higgins’ big contract.
“Here, selecting a wide receiver high in the first round is one of two possibilities. In order to give their rookie receiver a year to learn from the veterans before Higgins departs in 2025 and is replaced by another receiver, the Bengals could first apply the franchise tag to Higgins. Alternatively, considering how effective rookie first-round receivers have been for most teams, the Bengals may let Higgins go this offseason and bring in the young player in his stead. Troy Franklin of Oregon, Michigan’s Roman Wilson, and LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. should be among the receivers available when the Bengals select at No. 18 in the draft, according to Schatz.
