TAMPA, Florida – In front of 8,788 fans at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Friday during spring training, the Toronto Blue Jays lost 8–4 after giving up six runs in the second inning.

The Jays, who have dropped their last five preseason games, opened the game with two runs in the first and added singles in the third and fifth.

The Yankees moved to 4-2 despite being outhit 10-9. To complete their scoring, they scored twice in the fourth inning.

The Jays had triples from Ernie Clement and home runs from Davis Schneider and Daniel Vogelbach. The only two mistakes made in the game were also by the Blue Jays.

The Yankees’ home runs came from Juan Soto, Anthony Rizzo, and Everson Pereira.

For the Yankees, Gerrit Cole worked two innings, giving up three runs and four hits while striking out one to earn the victory.
