Lockyer, the captain of Luton Town, is’stable’ following a heart arrest on the football field.

The English Premier League team Luton Town’s captain, Tom Lockyer, is “stable” following a cardiac attack that occurred during a match on Saturday and was quickly stopped.

“Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain (Lockyer) suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher,” Luton reported on X.

“Tom was transferred to hospital, where we can reassure supporters that he is stable and currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside,” said the statement.

Upon being transported to the hospital, the 29-year-old Welsh defender “received further treatment inside the stadium.”

The Premier League game between Bournemouth and Luton has been postponed owing to a player health issue, the league announced earlier. Tom Lockyer and every player engaged in today’s match are in our thoughts and prayers.

When play at Bournemouth was stopped in the second half, the score was 1-1.

Earlier in May, during a playoff final victory over Coventry City, Lockyer had fallen.

Lockyer, a football player for Luton since 2020, had heart surgery in June in order to resume playing.

Lockyer has only managed one goal for his team in 14 Premier League games this season.
