Nebraska tight end Arik Gilbert arrested for caught-on-camera liquor store burglary

Prior to the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game between Oregon and Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on September 03, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia, Georgia Bulldogs #7 Arik Gilbert looks on without a helmet.
Arik Gilbert, a tight end for the University of Nebraska, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after he was allegedly found stealing more than $1,600 worth of merchandise from a liquor store.

According to TMZ, surveillance footage purports to show the 6-foot-5, 275-pound Gilbert throwing a block of cement through the store’s door before breaking through another door to enter.

Another individual in the video is shown wearing what looks to be a ski mask while wearing no shirt.

Around two in the morning, the police stopped the 21-year-old outside SJ’s Liquor & Vape in Lincoln, Nebraska, and seized several goods, including lighters and vapes.

Gilbert was taken aback when police unexpectedly arrived at the site after receiving a complaint of a potential break-in.

The football player reportedly dropped his baggage and raised his hands when he was apprehended without incident; at least eight police officers were waiting outside.

Rhule stated, “I’m not ready to talk on that.” “I don’t know anything about it, I really just got that phone call and I’m not going to jump to conclusions about things.”

Gilbert started his career at LSU, where he finished as ESPN’s sixth-ranked prospect overall in the 2020 class with 35 receptions for 368 yards as a true freshman. After the season, he decided to go to Georgia instead of Florida as first planned.
