Before being taken into custody, Omenihu stayed at the location and assisted the reporting officers.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office will now review the matter in order to consider filing charges against Omenihu.

According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, the 49ers issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information.”

In his second season with the 49ers, Omenihu, 25, has made a big impact on the defensive line for the squad. His season total of sacks is 4.5. He participated in 15 snaps of San Francisco’s divisional round victory over Dallas before suffering an oblique injury that prevented him from playing in the remainder of the team’s 19–12 triumph.

In the NFC title game on Sunday, the 49ers will now travel to play the Eagles.
