Out of style Serie A powerhouse AC Milan is eyeing a Leeds United player as a transfer ‘option’.

During the January transfer window, Charlie Cresswell surprised everyone by becoming a “deadline-day option” for AC Milan, a team in Serie A. The Daily Mirror claims that Italian teams are looking to the Championship in an attempt to locate the next Jude Bellingham.

For Cresswell, the center-half for Leeds United, this year has been frustrating. The defender has only made five appearances for the Whites this season despite signing a new long-term contract on the eve of the 2023–24 campaign and being given the number five shirt.

Since Daniel Farke joined the team last summer, Cresswell has had difficulty getting into the starting lineup since the German coach prefers Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Liam Cooper to be the core members of their defense. Entering the summer transfer window, the academy graduate’s future at Elland Road is tenuous. If United manages to accomplish their short-term objective and return to the Premier League, there’s a good chance they’ll seek to sign Rodon permanently, which will limit Cresswell’s chances to make an impression.

Leeds Live has learned that the Whites had many bids for Cresswell in the New Year. Although none of the clubs that were believed to have made a formal approach for the player were able to match their valuation, Millwall was one of them.

Right now, Cresswell is traveling the world with the England Under-21 squad. In their 2025 European Championship qualifying match, the young Lions easily defeated Azerbaijan 5-1, with him being deployed as a replacement. Cresswell’s United teammate Archie Gray scored on his debut. Gray became the fourth-youngest player in England U21 history to score a goal.

When England plays Luxembourg on Tuesday night in their next Euro qualifier, both Cresswell and Gray will be hoping to play.
