NEWS NOW: Tennessee OL Coach Glen Elarbee Has A Misunderstanding With OL Lance Heard, Says He Is Not Capable Enough For…

OL coach Glen Elarbee of the Tennessee Vols talks about the contentious position switch.

Lance Heard, an offensive tackle transfer from LSU, was one of the Tennessee Vols’ greatest on-field stories this offseason.

After Gerald Mincey departed Tennessee for Kentucky, the Vols signed Heard.

In 2023, Mincey was a right tackle for the Vols.

John Campbell, the Vols’ starting left tackle in 2023, will go to right tackle as Heard is anticipated to play left tackle for Tennessee in 2024.

Following the announcement that Heard was going to Tennessee and would probably play left tackle, Campbell appeared dissatisfied with the position change in a few cryptic tweets.

However, Campbell appeared to support the decision a few days later when he uploaded a video of himself practicing at right tackle.

Glen Elarbee, the offensive line coach for the Vols, met with media on Monday and gave Campbell credit for his efforts.

After just one season at right tackle, former Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright—who was selected among the top 10 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft—made the wise decision to move to right tackle. After 2024, Campbell can find himself in a similar predicament. And one of the main reasons that might be the case is his upbeat outlook.
