Fred Warner: The playoffs have not seen a strong enough defense from us.
Although the 49ers have advanced to the Super Bowl, linebacker Fred Warner is dissatisfied with their route there.
The Niners have won both of their NFC playoff games via comebacks, and Warner feels that the defense has not done enough to prepare the squad for success thus far in the postseason.
“Not even close to being good enough. As long as I’ve been here, the standard has been the same, Warner stated on Thursday, according to 49ersWebzone.com. And we’ve mainly depended on our defense to win games; we’ve suffocated opponents, held them to few points, and controlled the game with our play.
Warner stated that the 49ers’ strong defensive performance in the postseason thus far should have the Chiefs “looking at the tape and they’re thinking they have a great opportunity ahead.” The seasoned linebacker continued, saying that the Super Bowl presents a chance “to right the wrongs that we’ve had” over the past several weeks. They will get the chance to do so in Las Vegas one week from Sunday.
