Following the shooting during the Super Bowl parade, Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs players break their silence.

A gunshot occurred during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, although none of the players were hurt. One individual was confirmed dead.

Patrick Mahomes has paid tribute to the Kansas City parade shooting victims.

Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, has expressed his amazement and anguish on social media about their Super Bowl parade turning into a horrifying crime scene.

After shots were fired close to Union Station, the happy celebration of the Chiefs winning their third Super Bowl in five seasons took a deadly turn. Up to fifteen people—some of them minors—were hurt, and one person lost their life.

All Chiefs players, staff members, and family friends are safe, according to police confirmation. A few fans are getting medical attention. Police have taken two individuals into custody, and investigations are still underway.

Not long after, the Kansas City Chiefs released a statement. “We are deeply saddened by the senseless act of violence that took place outside of Union Station following today’s rally and parade,” the statement read. “We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department. At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”

An upset Kansas City police chief Stacey Graves spoke up after the incident. She said how it jeoparised millions who were just hoping to enjoy the celebration. “I’m angry at what happened today,” she expressed during her interview with MSNBC.

Graves added: “The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment. We had over 800 law enforcement officers, Kansas City, and other agencies, at the location to keep everyone safe. Because of bad actors, which were very few, this tragedy occurred even in the presence of uniformed law enforcement officers who ran towards them and brought them into custody.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured parties in this tragedy, as well as your families. We are in the early stages of this inquiry and are making safe progress in clearing all nearby businesses and locations. We’re still conducting this investigation, and we’ll keep you informed.”

What was meant to be a happy occasion was overshadowed by the tragic event. The team’s tight end, Travis Kelce, was observed interacting with supporters and even knelt down to share a beer with the residents of Kansas City.

Alongside his spouse Brittany, Patrick Mahomes was spotted dancing on the parade bus. Even Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco showed up with a goat decked up in a Chiefs sweater. The Chiefs hope to win three Super Bowls in the upcoming season, making them the first team to do so since the New England Patriots in 2004–05.
