A Defensive Free Agent Signing Would Help the Browns Close a Huge Gap

A look at a potential mock free agency acquisition that might significantly improve the defense of the Cleveland Browns.

At least that is the goal, the Cleveland Browns are moving on from their 2022 campaign. The Browns need to fill the gaps on their roster in order to succeed. A defensive free agent that Cleveland should sign is a good addition to the Browns’ roster, according to Pro Football Focus.

A’Shawn Robinson, a defensive lineman, would improve Cleveland’s defensive line in the middle. After playing for the Rams for the previous three seasons, Robinson missed seven games in 2022. The Detroit Lions, who selected Robinson in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, were the team with whom he played his finest football.

Robinson played for the Lions for four years, recording 172 tackles, five sacks, and three forced fumbles in 58 games. According to PFF, Robinson ranks 12th among interior defensive linemen in defensive stops over the past two seasons.

Robinson, who is 27 years old, would be a good match for Jim Schwartz, the new defensive coordinator, on the defensive line. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound behemoth would become the Browns’ best middle run stopper right away.
