Even though Jared Goff has had an excellent season and a half with the Detroit Lions, one writer believes it’s time for the team to move forward. As Goff’s replacement, Tim Weaver projects that the Lions will choose Michael Penix Jr. at No. 29 overall in the 2024 NFL mock draft, which was recently released by Seahawks Wire.

Penix’s strong performance at the combine and the Washington Huskies pro day, which included a sub-4.6 second 40-yard sprint and a 75-yard pass, has cemented his status as one of the top quarterback prospects, despite the fact that this is only one perspective.
Tim Weaver comments, “After his performance at the combine, it seems unlikely Michael Penix will last until Day 2 now.” This is the moment when Detroit eventually decides to provide them Jared Goff’s replacement. Penix may be something remarkable once he starts contributing to Ben Johnson’s offense.

The Lions Have a Bright Future Ahead of Them
Though this scenario remains theoretical and unlikely to come to pass given the Lions’ commitment to Goff, we wish Michael Penix Jr. the best of luck in his career. Rather than selecting a quarterback to replace Goff in the draft, the Lions seem to be more focused on developing around him as they get ready for the 2024 NFL season.
