Kalvin Phillips: West Ham complete loan signing of England international from Manchester City

The first transfer of the January transfer window has been made by West Ham. For the duration of the season, David Moyes’ team has signed Kalvin Phillips to a loan from Manchester City. The England international may make his Premier League debut at the London Stadium against Bournemouth the following week. The Hammers have resisted attempts to sign him from both England and elsewhere.

After fending off interest from many Premier League opponents, West Ham United managed to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.
The England international seeks to increase his chances of being included in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 team by moving to the London Stadium on a loan basis till the conclusion of the current campaign.

After joining Pep Guardiola’s team on a six-year deal from Leeds United in 2022, the 28-year-old has had a difficult time. Everton, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace are all allegedly interested in signing him.

Although Phillips has only made 16 Premier League appearances for City—14 of which have been as substitutes—that deal cost the team almost £42 million.
He last played in a competitive match in mid-December, when he entered as a substitute during the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals victory 3-0 against Urawa Red Diamonds.
In a statement, Phillips stated, “I’m really happy to be here.” “As there has always been a lot of conjecture about my transferring to West Ham, I can’t wait to get started.

With only one loss in their previous ten top-flight games, manager David Moyes will be looking to bolster his team’s depth in order to increase their prospects of making it into the UEFA Europa League.
“Bringing a player of Kalvin’s caliber to West Ham United brings us great pleasure,” Moyes remarked.

“Kalvin is a seasoned Premier League midfielder who plays for the England national team. We’re thrilled to have him join the team and are looking forward to collaborating with him.
For a starting spot in the midfield, Phillips will face competition from James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez, and Tomas Soucek, his new teammates.
