Breaking News: ”It Seems My Club Wants To Get Rid Of Me”, Out-Of-Contract Star For Charlton Athletic Connor Wickham Explains After…

No Talks Have Been Held With Out-of-Contract Star by Charlton Athletic

The summer contract of Charlton Athletic center-forward Connor Wickham is about to expire, but he has disclosed that he has not yet had any discussions on his future with the team.

On Saturday, Wickham scored the game-winning goal to give the Addicks assurance that they will be in League One for another season. To take the lead at the Abbey Stadium, the former Sunderland striker controlled a chipped pass from captain George Dobson, turned his body in the area, and fired a shot into the bottom corner.

After leading 1-0 at the break, Nathan Jones’ team gave up five minutes later when Macauley Bonne of Cambridge United tied the score. With two games left, Charlton might finish the season unblemished despite the game ending in a 1-1 draw. They have now gone 13 games without a loss in the third division of England.

Wickham signed a two-week contract with the South London club in March after a productive training session with Jones. After spending four months with Cardiff City the previous season, the former Premier League forward was not under contract with any other team.

However, Jones took a chance by signing the 31-year-old for a contract that would last until the end of the season, and the goal on Saturday to win a point demonstrated the advantages of this choice.

But with his future unsure once more, Wickham has acknowledged that he’s simply delighted to be playing football once more. According to London News Online, he hasn’t had any discussions with Charlton Athletic about potentially extending his contract past the current season.

“I’m really excited to be playing football again, in addition to just being here and achieving objectives”. That is what will get me anything for the upcoming season, if that is what it takes. What I can control is all that I can do. That’s my primary attention right now.
