SAD NEWS FOR CHARLTON ATHLETIC KEY PLAYER: I WON’T PLAY

AGAINThe manager of Crawley Town provides an update on a critical defender’s injury before of Charlton Athletic’s EFL Trophy visit.

Aston Villa u21s and Sutton United are the other two clubs in Group J, therefore Scott Lindsey’s team, who have enjoyed a strong start to their League Two campaign, will be hoping to win and get minutes for players in the squad.
The Reds enter the game fresh off a 3-3 draw with Stockport County on Saturday, when they overcame a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead before conceding a late equalizer to split the points.

Due to injury, defender Dion Conroy, who was never expected to play against Charlton, was unable to participate in the match on Saturday. “It’s just a small kind of calf problem at the moment,” Lindsey stated. Everything will work out. We’ll see him shortly. There isn’t much of a layoff—just a slight discomfort in his calf more than anything else.

However, Reds supporters should anticipate seeing greater playing time from the squad in this match. Lindsey stated: “We’ve properly prepared for this game; we’ve analyzed them, but it’s important to give players minutes in this competition.” We’re not clear how they’ll choose the players for their squad. We have no idea how strong they will be; all we can do is monitor how they have been playing, evaluate them, and get the squad ready, which is what we have done today [Monday]. We’ve selected a team, and some of the guys will be getting the game time they needed. It’s wonderful that this will allow us to rest some of the players who have played a lot of games.

Ben Gladwin, the captain, was one guy who saw some significant playing time on Saturday. It was at Edgeley Park that he made his season debut. Five minutes later, he was replaced. “He has recovered really well,” Lindsey stated. It’s better for him. I believe it was obvious that he was extremely rusty. He’s going to be the first to own that at some points during the game, he was a little rusty.
