After spending five years in the Midlands, the defender left Coventry City in January after reaching an agreement on a short-term contract. A major source of motivation for the 37-year-old was playing time.

The Lancashire Telegraph was informed by Gregg Broughton that McFadzean’s contract contains no provisions that would necessitate an extension. Thus, new terms would need to be worked out this summer.

McFadzean expressed his desire to prolong his career at Ewood Park to the local media prior to his reunion with Coventry.

In response, Eustace said that he would prefer to keep the seasoned center back on staff. The head coach was all praise for both his contributions off the field and his influence in the locker room.

“I think Kyle’s leadership qualities are there for everyone to see,” he stated.

“Ever since I started working at the football club, he has been exceptional. He arrived right away and had a significant impact. Then we reshaped, so he had to wait patiently.

“He was excellent again when he entered the game against Leeds. That kind of person is worth a lot of gold. The expertise, knowledge, and casual conversations in the locker room and on the training field.

It’s things coaches and managers aren’t allowed to say or do. Just by being in the group, he has significantly enhanced the defense and made a major difference.

“Kyle has been outstanding. We’ve spoken about adding more skilled and seasoned players to the group to support and foster growth. If we are able to keep him, he is definitely someone I would like to keep carrying that out.”

Following a major knee injury, Scott Wharton will be sidelined for an extended period of time. He’s not likely to appear again in this calendar year.

This summer, Dom Hyam’s contract will expire after a full year. A long-term commitment awaits Hayden Carter, but Connor O’Riordan only joined during the January transfer window.

Due to Wharton’s injury, Rovers will probably attempt to sign a center-back this summer, even if they decide to give McFadzean one more year on his contract.
