In March, Fox began serving as manager Barry Robson’s first team coach at Pittodrie. His contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
He was instrumental on the training field as the Dons overcame Hearts to place third and guarantee themselves a spot in the group stage of the European Cup the following year.
However, Aberdeen has disclosed relocation concerns for the separation, meaning that Fox will not be playing in Granite City again next season.

“First-team coach Liam Fox will… leave the club after his short-term contract expired,” a Dons statement said.

Liam helped the management team in the latter parts of the season, which contributed to the Dons’ successful end to the 2022–2023 campaign.

Unfortunately, his family’s situation has kept him from moving to Aberdeen permanently. The search for a replacement has already started within the club.

Last season, Fox had a disastrous tenure at Tannadice, which ended in February with a 4-0 loss to Ross County.
Still, he had only been unemployed for five weeks when Robson suddenly appeared to take him to Pittodrie.
Upon Fox’s appointment, the Dons manager showered him with praise, adding, “Our paths haven’t crossed but I was on a course at one time and I watched him coach.”

“He managed a major league team. I appreciate that he has experience in management and is familiar with all of its nuances and challenges.

“He has also worked with younger players as a development coach, and this club requires someone with all these experiences, from the age of 18 to the first team. No one is more suitable than me to take that position.
Fox’s outstanding tenure with the Dons has enhanced his already remarkable coaching reputation. As a result, clubs located closer to the central belt have become aware of his availability, making him a highly sought-after coach.
