US track and field star Noah Lyles lost a 100-meter race against an 18-year-old adolescent in April 2023.

Sprinter Issam Asinga faces a provisional ban just before the world championships in Budapest. On August 11, the AIU suspended the teenage sprinter who was supposed to represent South American nation Suriname on the Budapest tracks. On August 11, a tweet from the organization’s Twitter account stated, “The Athletics Integrity Unit has provisionally suspended Issamade Asinga (Suriname) for the presence/use of a prohibited substance (GW1516).”

The integrity department accused the adolescent sports star of having the substance on him on Wednesday and issued a warning to that effect. The highly carcinogenic drug GW1516 was banned by World Athletics Anti-Doping (WADA) rules in 2007 and is no longer in use. Asinga sent a statement on Instagram in the midst of this ban. The athlete submitted a urine sample for analysis on July 18 in order to be considered for the South American championship, which was held on July 28. Furthermore, the sample sent to a Brazilian laboratory on August 10th was found to be negative.

The athlete went on to say, “My urine sample contained an alleged amount of 0.2 nanograms per milliliter.” “Until that time, I will remain steadfast and wait,” Asinga concluded the statement, expressing his continued hope to run the Budapest courses. On the allegation, a final decision has not yet been made. If found guilty, the 18-year-old may be banned for up to four years.
