According to Soccernet.ng, Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, has been named to the 2023–24 Serie A Team of the Season.

Osimhen was included in the 23-man roster that was revealed on the Italian Serie A’s official social media outlets on Saturday.

When he scored for joy and helped Napoli win their first Scudetto title in more than thirty years last year, the Nigerian forward was the talk of the town.

Nevertheless, Napoli’s attempt to capture the league title again this year was abjectly unsuccessful; they finished the season in 10th position after winning just 13 of their 37 league games and suffering 11 losses.
Even with Napoli’s difficulties and his 2023 Africa Cup of Nations participation, Osimhen was still able to record some amazing stats.
In just 24 Serie A appearances for Napoli, the reigning African Footballer of the Year netted 15 goals and provided an assist for another three.

Interestingly, Osimhen’s goal total in the Italian top flight was surpassed only by Lautaro Martínez of Inter Milan (24 goals) and Dušan Vlahović of Juventus (16 goals).

For their contributions, Martínez and Vlahović are also included with Osimhen on the Serie Team of the Season.

Samuel Chukwueze of Nigeria is not included, but Osimhen is joined on the esteemed list by Christian Pulisic, Theo Hernandez, Olivier Giroud, and Rafael Leao, his teammates from AC Milan.

Osimhen, a 25-year-old striker, is expected to seek a fresh challenge in England, with Chelsea and Arsenal leading the race to recruit him. This season may be his last in Italy.
