BREAKING: According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa is talking about a “really strong” substitute for Weston McKennie.

In terms of transfers during the last few weeks, Aston Villa has been among the busier Premier League teams.

The Villans must add players to their roster in order to handle the increased effort that comes with qualifying for the Champions League the next season.

Meanwhile, Villa is probably going to let go of certain players, either to go in the opposite direction.

In his most recent report on the situation, Fabrizio Romano mentioned a number of players who might replace McKennie.

Enzo Barrenechea might join Aston Villa as a replacement for Weston McKennie.
Romano asserted on X that Villa and Juventus are still trying to come up with a solution on the Luiz exchange agreement.

According to the transfer insider, McKennie might not make the swap deal and that Enzo Barrechea has been considered as a replacement.

Additionally, Moise Kean is not an option for Villa, and while Dean Huijsen is “appreciated,” he is also “expensive” for the objectives of the agreement, Romano continued.

Barrenechea, the Aston Villa target, who is?
Argentina’s Enzo Barrenechea is a football player that plays defensive or central midfield and is a member of the Juventus team.

The 23-year-old made 39 games during his loan stint at fellow Serie A team Frosinone in 2023–2024, 36 of which came in league play.

Barrenechea started his professional career at Lionel Messi’s previous team, Newell’s Old Boys. After that, in 2019, he relocated to Sion, a Swiss team, and a year later, he joined Juventus’ academy.

Barrenechea is a “very strong” player, according to former Juventus U19 coach Andrea Bonatti, who made this statement earlier this year to Tuttomercatoweb.

“He plays more vertically, is more knowledgeable, covers the pitch well, has excellent technique, dominance under pressure, and is now much more complete,” Bonatti continued.
