Tony Docherty claims Dundee is “buzzing” for the opening day derby and talks about the “huge compliment” from the Dundee United boss.

Tony Docherty and Jim Goodwin will go head to head in JUNE.

According to Tony Docherty, a Dundee derby held on the first day of the season is a “brilliant advert” for Scottish football.

As Doc’s Dark Blues get ready for the upcoming campaign, he claimed that the news of the fixtures gave everyone on the training field a great boost.

On Sunday, August 4, Dundee will travel a short distance to Tannadice to take on their fierce rivals Dundee United. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

“It’s fantastic, everything that’s great about Scottish football. They are entirely correct in that.

“Scottish football will benefit greatly from the publicity that the Dundee derby will receive, since I was listening to TalkSport discuss it.

Playing this game is a lot of fun.

We were removing the players from the ceiling as soon as the news broke because the campaign has had such an exciting beginning.

“Everyone is excited about it.

“This is an excellent example of whatever we can do to improve the product, which is a terrific product.

The Dundee United manager expressed his desire to follow in Docherty and Dundee’s footsteps from the previous campaign.

Like the Tangerines did the previous season, the Dark Blues finished in the top six in their first season back after capturing the Championship championship.

It’s a really big praise. That is a great praise coming from someone with Jim’s managerial expertise, Docherty remarked.
