Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele leave Tottenham and sign with Galatasaray

Sanchez, 27, joined Tottenham in 2017 for a sum that might have reached £42 million, but he struggled to make an impression in north London.

He leaves on a long-term contract worth £12.8 million, after the Colombian defender attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer, including Spartak Moscow and Nottingham Forest.

It’s cruel that Sanchez’s final act in a Tottenham shirt will be the missed penalty he committed against Fulham in the Carabao Cup shootout last week.

Last season, when the 54-time Colombian international was substituted off during a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth, he had the humiliation of hearing his own supporters boo him.

After coming in to replace Clement Lenglet in the 35th minute, Sanchez made two errors as the Cherries quickly took a 2-1 lead. Spurs supporters jeered Sanchez as he left the field and also booed him on many of his touches of the ball.

Over the course of six years in north London, the 27-year-old failed to live up to the value of his contract and only once made more than 30 Premier League appearances in a single campaign.

Sanchez appeared to have won a spot in Antonio Conte’s plans at the club in his first full season in command after starting three of the Spurs’ opening five Premier League games.
