Leeds United signed off for the international break with their second Elland Road victory in four days thanks to a 2-1 victory over Bristol City. Goals from Daniel James and Joel Piroe were enough to see off a stubborn Robins side, Daniel Farke’s side now head into the international break in the play-off spots.

Both sides showed intent in the early stages, with Georginio Rutter guilty of missing a glorious chance when he put the ball over the bar from three yards out with no defenders or goalkeeper in front of him. The Frenchman was involved, however, when Leeds did take the lead.
It was Dan James who opened the scoring when he was on hand to slot the ball into the bottom corner after Crysencio Summerville nudged a Georginio Rutter cross into the Welshman’s path on 37 minutes as a period of Leeds pressure was rewarded.
Farke’s men were unable to see out the half, however, as Kal Naismith headed home a corner deep into first-half stoppage time and the sides went in level. Joel Piroe would restore the hosts’ advantage on 53 minutes, when he rolled a shot into the back of the net from outside the box.

Chances continued to flow for both sides, with Rutter seeing a goal chalked off for offside, while Sam Byram cleared a City effort off the line, but no more goals would follow and the hosts were able to bank three more points.
