Sean Dyche and Everton conveyed a “positives” message following their close loss to Liverpool………

James McFadden, a former player for Everton, advised his former team to learn from their Merseyside derby loss to Liverpool. Everton’s defensive play was a major factor in the match’s closeness at Anfield, as the Toffees barely survived Ashley Young’s first-half red card.

Everton felt unfairly treated when Young was sent off for a second yellow card. This was especially true in the second half when referee Craig Pawson was inconsistent and allowed Ibrahima Konate, who had already been cautioned, to escape a second yellow card for a clear trip.

Even so, Everton managed to hold out until Mo Salah’s penalty kick from a stonewall in the 75th minute. When Sean Dyche’s team started moving bodies forward in stoppage time, the Egyptian went on to make it two deep.

Everton will find it difficult to accept, especially considering the choices that they will feel went against them. However, former player McFadden thinks his old team still has a lot to be proud of in spite of the derby day loss. “Everton had a passable game. made it difficult for Liverpool, defended with tenacity, and had opportunities on the break,” he said to BBC Sport.

“From the perspective of having a player down, the red card modifies the game in some way. Additionally, the choice to leave Konate in the game could have an impact on the result as well.

“Even with 10 men on the field, Everton prevented Liverpool from producing many open opportunities; their second goal came from a breakaway as they were pursuing the game.” There are many advantages for Everton.
