Report: Miles Leaburn of Charlton Athletic will be contested by Chelsea and Brentford.

Miles Leaburn, an attacker for Charlton Athletic, is 19 years old, and it has been suggested that Brentford and Chelsea, two rival teams in West London, may compete for his services.

The 6′ 5in center-forward, who started his career under Michael Appleton, is the son of renowned former Addicks striker Carl Leaburn.

The marksman, who turns 20 next month, was born in 2003. In his 50 appearances for Charlton, he has scored 19 goals and provided four assists.

Leaburn had a solid season last year, scoring 12 goals in 35 League One appearances. This season, he has scored six goals in 10 games in the EFL Trophy and third division.

Leaburn is primarily a number nine, but the Addicks, who own him through the end of the 2024–25 season, have also used him on the right wing.

Chelsea is one of the teams that have reportedly noticed the adolescent’s accomplishments at The Valley; they hosted him in their youth program prior to his departure in 2019, according to the Daily Mail.

Even though Leaburn may be approaching the last year of his contract in 2024, Charlton feels that they do not need to let go of the Englishman despite Brentford, a Premier League team, closely monitoring Leaburn’s performances.

Charlton was apparently approached by an undisclosed Bundesliga team in the summer with a £3 million offer for Leaburn. Although the League One team rejected the proposal, it is unclear how they would react to a more generous offer.

It is well known that Chelsea want to sign a striker during the January transfer window, even though they signed Deivid Washington, Nicolas Jackson, and Christopher Nkunku during the summer.

Jackson has been inconsistent in his early Chelsea career, scoring just twice in the Premier League, while Nkunku is still waiting for his first competitive debut because of a serious knee injury.

The Blues are expected to spend lavishly again during the winter after a stretch of outrageous summer expenditure, with offers for Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Ivan Toney of Brentford being discussed.

Given that Napoli is still hopeful about reaching a new contract agreement with Osimhen—who is also now out due to a hamstring injury received during the international break—a deal for Toney is viewed as more likely.

After serving more than half of his eight-month suspension, Toney will be allowed to return in mid-January. Arsenal and Chelsea are anticipated to compete for his services in a deal that could cost as much as £65 million.

Leaburn could be enticed to the Gtech Community Stadium by Brentford, whose manager Thomas Frank has acknowledged that Toney’s departure might be imminent. However, the Bees are also rumored to be interested in Tammy Abraham, an ex-Blue who is currently a striker for Roma.

The Premier League West London rivalry between Chelsea and Brentford takes place on Saturday at midday, right in the middle of their off-field transfer squabble.
