Manning joined Oxford in March, taking Karl Robinson’s place. At the time, the U’s were five points above the relegation zone in 17th place. At the beginning of the season, Manning was a contender to succeed Danny Cowley at Fratton Park, but John Mousinho, a former U’s defender, beat him out for the position.
