Shaquille Leonard, a free agency left guard, will not sign a contract with the Cowboys……..

FRISCO — After inside linebacker Shaq Leonard visited The Star n Frisco on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys decided not to sign him, a source close to the matter told The Dallas Morning News.

The two parties may still enter into a contract in the future even if they are unable to come to an agreement. He will, however, be leaving Dallas without a contract for the time being.

Leonard’s signing might add extra depth to a young, promising Dallas team that lost seasoned player Leighton Vander Esch for the season due to a neck injury.

The 28-year-old’s next stop on his free agent tour is the Eagles, who have also shown interest in him. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Leonard is scheduled to visit Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Before meeting with Leonard on Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones stated on The Fan (KRLD-FM, 105.3) that “it’s not real hard to look and see what kind of player he’s been.” “He has performed admirably throughout his career. To find out where he is, we will want to assess his health.

Prior to recent health difficulties, Leonard was regarded as one of the best players at his position. He was named the 2018 Defensive Rookie of the Year and is a three-time Pro Bowler.

He experienced severe leg pain while playing in 2021; subsequently, it was discovered that the injury was a nerve injury, necessitating back surgery prior to the 2022 season. After missing the first three games of the Colts season, he was involved in a hard collision with teammate Zaire Franklin in his season debut, which resulted in a concussion and a fractured nose. After missing two more games, Leonard made a comeback and underwent season-ending back surgery to replace the damaged nerve.
