Though it’s safe to say they haven’t exactly gone crazy, the Atlanta Braves have been making progress during the offseason, with the significant exception of dealing for Sean Murphy following the Winter Meetings.
The Braves have a little problem in left field, particularly if you don’t think highly of the combination of Eddie Rosario and Marcell Ozuna. The Braves signed Jordan Luplow to a one-year contract Wednesday to provide them another inexpensive alternative. Earlier in the offseason, they added Sam Hilliard as some additional depth.

We examined the Braves’ shortstop situation in 2023 in other parts of the website. They will need to carefully consider their internal possibilities starting in 2023 because the free agent market is now devoid of shortstops and the trade market also doesn’t seem to have any definitive answers at this time.

Beginning with some depressing news from around the game, we have the passing of Tom Browning, 62, a former pitcher and World Series ring winner for the Cincinnati Reds. To this day, Browning is the only pitcher in Reds history to toss a perfect game. Right now, our Reds pals are on our minds.
Free agency persisted, and the San Diego Padres remained important participants. Seth Lugo signed a two-year contract with an opt-out after the first year, meaning the Padres will be using his curveball next season. Even while not all of their moves have been successful, it’s entertaining to see the Padres work on improving
