Steelers Looking to Re-Sign Starting CBs

The Steelers are deciding which players to let walk and which to try to re-sign as free agency draws near. Three players were released earlier this week as they began the process of making cuts. They will then choose which of their own free agents, including one of their starting cornerbacks, to engage in negotiations.

Slot cornerback Chandon Sullivan stated in an interview with Ron Lippock of Steelers Takeaways that he and the Steelers talked about the future during their exit interview. Following his lone year in Pittsburgh, Sullivan is expected to become a free agent.

“I thought I made the most of my opportunities. I didn’t play as many snaps as I usually do, but that was the schematic outcome. However, I made the most of my opportunities on special teams and defense,” Sullivan said. “I believe I performed well on special teams, even though I hadn’t played there much previously. Throughout the season, Sullivan was ranked first on the team’s depth chart. In 17 games, he racked up 22 tackles, one interception, and six passes defensed. He only permitted the completion of 60.7% of the passes thrown his way.

The only players on the Steelers roster right now are Cory Trice, Darius Rush, Patrick Peterson, and Joey Porter Jr.
