The front office staff of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers deserves recognition for the amount of work they have done during the offseason. Since most of their decisions have been done internally, many of the moves they have made have gone unnoticed, but the Bucs have emerged as one of the strongest teams in free agency so far after holding onto key players from their 2023 squad. While talks with a number of players continued throughout the week, Bucs general manager Jason Licht stated that he would be spending Friday on the boat in Tampa Bay. Even more shockingly, though, he continued to work while taking in the Florida sunshine on Friday, as several moves were officially announced.

included Licht announcing that quarterback John Wolford will be returning to the team for a one-year contract.

In general, general managers don’t typically disclose signings on social media, but when Licht did so with Wolford, NFL Adam Schefter—who typically breaks news—was taken aback. Licht responded by teasing Schefter a little by claiming he wasn’t sorry.

Licht has performed admirably ever since joining the company. Because of his work in Tampa Bay, he has become well-known, and people outside of One Buc Place and the city of Tampa are now beginning to realize how amazing he is.

With Wolford’s re-signing, the Bucs will have all three of their quarterbacks from 2023 onward, and following Licht and company’s excellent work, they will aim to rebuild their roster with a large number of players in place by 2024.
